Getting Started: Time Entry

This guide will walk you through a couple simple ways to enter time into Harvest.
This guide is for all users and takes approximately 3 minutes to go through.

1. Daily Timesheet

Entering time with Harvest is easy. After you've logged into your Harvest account, simply click on the Timesheets tab. Then click on the "Day" button in the upper-right if you are not already in the Daily view.

Timesheets-daily

You will be first presented with the Daily timesheet view. This view allows you to enter detailed notes as you work throughout the day. Simply fill out the form at the bottom of the page and click "Add entry" to enter in time. You can enter time in either HH:MM or decimal format. Clicking on the clock icon will start and stop a timer on the selected entry.

2. Weekly Timesheet

Click on the "Week" button in the upper-right hand corner of your timesheet and you will switch to the weekly timesheet view.

Timesheets-weekly

The weekly timesheet is a standard timesheet view which allows you to fill out your time for the week on a single page. Harvest remembers the project and tasks you use each week so you don't need to re-add any project/task pairings at the start of a new week.

Harvest also remembers the last view you used, so you won't need to switch back and forth in the future when you return to your Timesheets tab.

Enter in a few hours against any projects you've set up here to see how it works. As you enter your hours, note that Harvest will automatically save your timesheet in the background so you can rest assured that you won't lose any progress.

3. Alternate Ways to Enter Time

Harvest currently offers the following alternative methods of entering time:
