What You Can Sync with Basecamp Classic

The Basecamp Classic integration allows you to import people and projects from Basecamp Classic.

Harvest does not sync with Basecamp Classic’s to-do lists or time tracking. In Harvest, hours are associated with projects and tasks, such as ‘design’ or ‘programming,’ whereas Basecamp Classic’s to-do lists are more detail-oriented. The reason that Harvest is tracking time with more general categories is that we can then see how a project’s resources are distributed amongst tasks, which you can compare to a similar project or help you estimate for a future project. Harvest does not integrate time tracking with Basecamp Classic, because Basecamp Classic tracks more granular To-dos.

Setting up Basecamp Classic Integration

When importing projects from Basecamp Classic, all your Harvest users will automatically be assigned to their proper projects based on their project assignments in Basecamp Classic. To set up your Basecamp Classic integration:

1. Go to Manage > Account Settings
2. Scroll down to 3rd Party Integration and click on Edit Basecamp Classic Settings.
3. Enter your Basecamp Classic URL, and follow the instructions on the page to help you find your Basecamp Classic API token.
4. Click Import.
