Harvest for Mac

Enter and edit time from your desktop via Harvest for Mac, free.

Installing Harvest for Mac

  1. Download Harvest for Mac to your computer at http://www.getharvest.com/mac
  2. Double-click Harvest.zip
  3. Drag Harvest.app to your Applications folder.
  4. Open the app, and sign in.

Can’t Sign In or Connect

  • If your account was created with Google Apps, you will need to create a Harvest-specific password. (Learn more)

Tracking Time in Harvest for Mac

Starting a Timer

  1. Click the plus sign on the Timesheet window, or use OPT+CMD+N (this is customizable in Preferences).
    • You can use this hotkey with any open application.
  2. Choose a project and task, and add a note if you need.
    • You can start typing a project or task name, and the app will autocomplete your selection.
  3. Click Start Timer.

To stop a timer, you can click the H in the menubar, or by pressing the stop button in the Timesheet window.

Editing a Timer

  1. Open the Timesheet window by clicking the dock icon or menubar, or by pressing CMD+OPT+M (this is customizable in Preferences).
  2. Make your edits, and Save.

You can also right-click any time entry and choose View in Harvest to open your Harvest timesheet in a browser.

Idle Time Detection

If you leave a timer running while your computer goes idle, the Harvest Mac app will ask if you’d like to keep this time once it detects you’re no longer idle. You can choose to remove the idle time or continue timing.
