Timesheet Update: Start Your Week on Saturday, Sunday or Monday

Today, we’re excited to announce the release of one of our most highly-requested features – the ability to start the week on Saturday, Sunday or Monday.

Harvest timesheets have always started on Monday. However, many companies begin their timesheets on Saturday or Sunday, and they approve time weekly based on that start day. It’s been a goal of ours for a while to have Harvest accomodate this worklflow, but we knew that this was a much bigger update than it seemed. Shifting the start day affects all the time a company has entered in Harvest, making it critical that this feature be implemented with the utmost care. With this in mind, we’ve taken every precaution to make sure that a complicated behind-the-scenes switch seems like a simple and seamless one from the Harvest UI.

If your company starts its week on Saturday or Sunday, simply head to Manage > Account Settings and update the Start Week On preference. Harvest Timesheets and Reports will be updated to start the week on the selected day, and timesheets will be approved based on that week.

    Could you also update the send a remind to submit your hours function so the reminder can send on Saturday or Sunday?

  • Reminders on Saturday or Sunday (especially Sunday) would be awesome!

  • Dorothy, Ann, I’m pretty sure that the reminders can be changed in your settings to go out whenever you want? I send mine to my team at 4pm on a Friday (the standard was Monday am).

    @Bryan @Dorothy @Ann Yes, our system allows you to pick only Monday through Friday for those email reminders, but rest assured, we’ll made note of your request – thanks for the suggestion!

    A nice feature would also be to select timeframes as predefined cut-offs. For some clients and projects we invoice based on cut-off time frames. For example, last Sunday of the month.

  • Love the new feature, but there appears to be a minor regression: Now my timesheet hours show up with a comma as the decimal symbol, even though my number format setting specifies a period (US style).

  • Actually, it looks like the number format setting went back to “1.234,56” when I changed and saved the first day of the week, so it was easy to fix just by setting it back.

    I have tryed harvest in some time now.. and i realy like it! – im from Denmark (Europe), week numbers on the timesheet would be a huge improvement for european users.

    It made my thoughts directed to how I could imagine that timesheet might look like in a time in the future. I have uploaded a picture of my timesheet layout-mockup: http://www.henrikbast.dk/Timesheet-Mockup.jpg

    The idea is that each project constitute a “group” under which you have all assigned tasks listed.

    Each project can be folded, and you can only see the headline and sub-total of hours written on the project.

    Furthermore, a column of how many hours left in the budget.

    At the bottom of the timesheet, you can see the employee’s normal working hours, and total of current working time

    I hope this will be an inspiration for future improvements of your timesheet
