Essential Compliance Requirements for Greek Invoices
To ensure your invoices are legally valid in Greece, adhering to specific tax regulations is crucial. Every invoice must include a unique, sequential number and the date of issuance. Key details for both the supplier and customer are mandatory, including their full names, addresses, and their Greek Tax Identification Number (AFM). The AFM, or Αριθμός Φορολογικού Μητρώου, is the equivalent of a VAT ID in Greece and is essential for all tax obligations. You must also provide a detailed description of the goods or services, including quantities and unit prices. Furthermore, the invoice needs to clearly state the net taxable value, the applicable VAT rate, and the total VAT amount. Greece's standard VAT rate is 24%, with reduced rates of 13% and 6% applying to specific goods and services. For VAT-exempt supplies, a citation of the relevant regulation is required.
