Key Features of an Indonesian Invoice Template
To ensure compliance with Indonesian regulations, your invoice template must include specific details beyond standard billing information. A crucial element is the Nomor Pokok Wajib Pajak (NPWP), which is the Tax ID number for both the supplier and the customer (if they are a corporate entity or government institution). For individual buyers, either an NPWP or a National Identity Number (NIK)/passport number is required.
Furthermore, the template needs to clearly state local tax details, specifically the Value-Added Tax (VAT) amount. Indonesia operates a mandatory electronic invoicing system called e-Faktur for VAT-registered businesses, where invoices are submitted to the Directorate General of Taxes (DGT) for approval and receive a QR code for verification. For transactions in foreign currency, the amount must be converted to Indonesian Rupiah (IDR) using the Ministry of Finance (KMK) exchange rate applicable on the invoice issuance date. While domestic transactions generally require Rupiah, exceptions exist for international trade and financing. Legal formatting requirements also dictate the inclusion of the official invoice serial number (NSFP) and a digital signature for e-invoices.
