In Romania, maintaining accurate records of employee working hours is not just a best practice—it's a legal requirement. Since the Labor Code amendment in August 2017, Romanian employers must document the daily working hours of each employee. Failure to comply can result in fines up to RON 20,000 per violation. This underscores the importance of using a compliant timesheet template. Records must be kept for at least three years and be readily available for inspection by labor authorities.
Timesheets must include specific information such as the employee's name, department, the period being tracked, and daily start and end times. Additionally, timesheets should account for breaks, overtime, and any absences, such as vacation days or sick leave. Employers must also respect standard working hours, with a maximum average of 48 hours per week over a 4-month reference period. Proper documentation helps avoid disputes and ensures legal compliance.
