Key Features for Compliance with Turkish E-Invoicing Regulations
To ensure legal operation in Turkey, invoice software must strictly adhere to the Turkish Revenue Administration (GİB) e-invoicing mandates. A critical feature is the support for a digital signature, specifically the "Mali Mühür" (financial seal) for legal entities, or a Qualified Electronic Signature (QES) for individuals, which guarantees the authenticity and integrity of invoices. Since September 2023, all e-invoices (both e-Fatura and e-Arşiv) must also include a QR code that, when scanned, reveals key invoice details for verification. Furthermore, the software needs to facilitate real-time updates on tax compliance, as e-Fatura invoices require real-time clearance through the GİB platform, while e-Arşiv invoices are reported to the tax authority within 24 hours. All e-invoices must be generated in the UBL-TR 1.2 XML format, a localized version of the Universal Business Language standard, ensuring data consistency and validation by the GİB system.
