Understanding the Freelance Market in Ukraine
The freelance market in Ukraine is experiencing rapid growth, with the number of freelancers increasing by over 80% in the first half of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024. This trend is fueled by factors such as military circumstances, loss of permanent employment, and a desire for greater flexibility. As a result, many Ukrainians are turning to freelancing as a viable employment alternative. In fact, 56% of Ukrainians either work or plan to work as freelancers, demonstrating the appeal of this dynamic work model.
The surge in freelancing is also supported by technological advancements, with young freelancers, particularly those aged 18-29, embracing artificial intelligence tools—69% already use AI in their work. Popular freelance services in Ukraine include programming, copywriting, design, and translation, with desired monthly earnings ranging from 20,000 to 50,000 hryvnias. Despite these opportunities, freelancers face challenges such as client acquisition, financial instability, and effective time management.
