Understanding Overtime Pay Rates in Ukraine
In Ukraine, the standard workweek is 40 hours, typically spread across five days, each lasting eight hours. Understanding overtime regulations is crucial, as overtime work is generally prohibited but allowed in specific cases. According to the Labour Code of Ukraine, overtime cannot exceed four hours over two consecutive days, with an annual cap of 120 hours. However, during martial law, these limits do not apply for critical infrastructure workers, who may work up to 60 hours weekly.
Compensation for overtime is set at 200% of the regular hourly wage, applicable to both weekday and public holiday work. Employees working on rest days or holidays are entitled to double pay or an alternative rest day by mutual agreement. It's essential for employers to accurately calculate and compensate overtime to comply with these regulations, as failure to do so can result in penalties.
